COVID-19 Vaccine in the Agenda Setting Theory

Agenda Setting

Agenda setting is the media placing emphasis on issues that they think are important and want the public to pay attention to or learn more about. One plan to follow this theory would be COVID-19 vaccine and how the media pushed it to be more important. On a daily basis you see ads, posters, commercials, etc., talking about how you need to get the vaccine when in reality its just like every other vaccine that we've ever gotten but yet the media finds it important so we see it more than any other vaccine promotion.

Framing

Framing is how something is understood by its audience and how the media has complete control over the understanding. Continuing on with the topic of the COVID-19 vaccine, the media has only portrayed it as good when yet there is countless of people who have had medical issues after receiving the vaccine that are unexplainable by anything other than it happened after they received the vaccine. You dont see any negative news or press regarding the COVID-19 vaccine because the media wants to portray it as a good thing when in reality you don't need it to protect yourself from the virus.

Priming

Priming is how the media changes the publics standards and suggests through the media that they should use certain things over others. Going along with the COVID-19 vaccine topic you see on a daily basis ads and other commercials using popular people or idols to be in these ads and commercials to help influence the publics opinion and decision making regarding the vaccine. If someone sees their favorite NFL player or singer on a COVID-19 vaccine ad, they are going to be more intrigued in getting the vaccine rather than if they saw some random actor on the ad.
